When it comes to planning the color scheme of your beachfront property, we find it best to draw inspiration from your beautiful surroundings. Taking cues from the hues of the sea or the neutral, wooden tones of the sand, you can create an oceanfront oasis that will inspire tranquility and allow you and your family to enjoy and cherish for years.

Coastal decor trends not only highlight the texture of driftwood, barnacles, seashells and more, but they also weave the colors of the ocean and maritime lore into interior and exterior designs to enhance a beachy look. Take advantage of your one-of-a-kind views and keep your design simple, yet warm and inviting.

Below, we’ll take a closer look at some beachfront properties we designed to show you how we were inspired by ocean waters.

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this Hampton, New Hampshire home is private and serene, featuring a secluded staircase up to the property from the beach. The owners wanted to take advantage of their fantastic ocean views, so we used sea greens, interesting shades of blue and sand tones to accentuate the ambiance of this prime location, which caught the attention and admiration of the bloggers at House of Turquoise.

The minimalist style of this home reflects the casual and nautical lifestyle of the owners. A simple, white interior is complimented by large areas of natural fir wood paneling and flooring. The addition of wood rounds out this relaxed look.

These waterfront homeowners used sea green as a bold accent color on the outside of their home. From the porch, the sea green highlights the vibrant tones of the ocean backdrop. The property’s interior plays with more beach tones, such as bright corals and shiny bronzes.

This coastal Maine homestead features a calming color scheme with a traditional and quaint aesthetic. In this bedroom, a light, sky-blue comforter is surrounded by classic, wooden furniture. A tan, wicker rocking chair faces the windows and shoreline below creating a picturesque vignette.
