Coastal Maine summer residence with outdoor entertainment and leisure spaces is ideal for any outdoor enthusiast. The project consisted of removing an existing outdated pool and underused pool shed to create an outdoor oasis. This 1000 square foot pool house creates a backdrop and shelter for the pool area. Close attention was paid to the massing and detailing to complement the main home’s 1920 shingle style detailing, while not overshadowing it. The pool house contains a covered eating and kitchen prep space and a two-sided fireplace—an exterior sitting area for the mild coastal Maine summer nights. The exterior materials were selected to create a sense of casual comfort while maintaining the needed durability. Contemporary teak furniture in soft linen hues forms an air of chic sophistication. Plush cushioned pool loungers with navy accents and woven elements add to the seaside mood in an understated way.
