Seaside Renovation by TMS Architects

Gold Award – Best Remodeling/Restoration, $750,000+

The original portion of this home is a barn that dates back to 1890 and prior renovations had been poorly planned. The current homeowners felt the existing space was too small and separated, and desired a larger, more open space to accommodate their family’s needs. We opened up the space and built a kitchen that could serve as the heart of the home. A nautical motif is present throughout the home due to its proximity to the ocean.

The Barn House by TMS Architects

Gold Award – Best Historical Renovation

Before this renovation, the homeowners of this house and barn were seriously considering downsizing. But with a little creativity and determination, we came up with a plan to renovate this 19th century barn into a beautiful new home. Much of the interior is made up of reclaimed materials and is decorated with memorabilia with significance to the homeowners. The floors are made entirely of reclaimed wood, Victorian tin panels were salvaged from a nearby building site and the slate used on the kitchen floor was mined in Pennsylvania to match the slate used in the farmhouse.

Silver Award – Best Detached Home, 5-8,000 sq ft.

It’s always a pleasure to help someone turn their dream home into a reality, and that’s exactly what we got to do here. This West Newbury, MA home is situated in an idyllic New England meadow and includes a wrap-around farmer’s porch and plenty of large windows to satisfy the homeowners’ love of nature. Inside, cozy, comfortable spaces are complimented by exquisite yet casual architectural detailing, and an open concept floor plan between the kitchen, dining room and great room create a relaxed feel within the home.

And last but not least, our website, built in collaboration with Brown Design of Portsmouth, NH received a Gold Award for best design! Take a look around to see the complete scope of our work, and get in touch if you’re feeling inspired to get started on a project of your own.
